30 Days in September

After reading Mahesh Dattani’s brilliant play, “30 Days in September”, I wonder that are woman and child abused issues been highlighted in Malaysia? I think there are less people who care for the welfare of them. We hardly know where and who to seek for help? In our Eastern culture, it is very ashamed for you and your family to tell the truth of it and talk about child abused. Normally, it takes time just like the protagonist, Mala to reveal the truth. Besides that, it is very hard to recover form it. I think many of them will choose to be silent for a long time just like Shanta. I am going to be a teacher in the future, I hope that I would be able to help out the students who have child’s abused problem.

Yes i strongly agree that Malaysia it is still considered as an embarrassment to reveal that you have been molested and that is why there are so many chases out there which the victim remain silence and the public assumes that we are living in a friendly and safe neighborhood. But the truth is that it is not the reality. Only in recent years we came across such incidents in the papers and news where it is made public and that shows the changes of values in our Malaysians values, which I believe its a good start...

Yeah... well said Yin Chean. what are you saing is true but when this people going to aware that the percentage of "child-abusing" is increasing day by day in Malaysia? May be this is also like what Yuen Thian said that the culture and custom preventing us from reavealing the truth in public but how long... it is so sad when we read in this play even it is just a story. this happens in reality but we can't help it but we can create an awareness for the public. so, malaysian writers should do something like "Mahesh Dattani" did to create the awareness to help our sister who need the help. and as Dr Edwin said. this will aslo be the bibliography for the victims themselves to recover. tahnk you Yin Chaen. i support your and Yuen Thian opinion.
